Tell ‘Em How You Really Feel: Fred Hampton Jr. Calls Hov “Slave-Z”
Fred Hampton Jr., son of slain Black Panther Fred Hampton, recently spoke about his anger over Jay-Z’s reference to his father. In the song “Murder To Excellence” Jay spits: “I arrived on the day Fred Hampton died/ Real n*ggas just multiply” referencing that his birthday is also the anniversary of Hampton’s death.
“Fred Hampton didn’t die; he was assassinated,” said Hampton Jr. “Saying Fred Hampton died is like the school teacher telling students that Christopher Columbus discovered America.” He also went on to call Hov “Slave-Z” during a panel discussion at the University of Chicago.
Honestly, Fred needs to go “woosaa” it out in the corner or something because it is not that serious. Did he ever think of how difficult it would be to rhyme something with assassinate?? Anyone??
And aside from that, his analogy is stretching it to say the least. At the end of the day, Fred Hampton did indeed die—saying he was assassinated is just providing information as to how. Idk…what do you guys think—is Fred Hampton Jr. overreacting or are his statements valid?
