SAB POETRY SLAM: Rules & Requirements

All participants must be at least 21 years old.
Anyone who wishes to sign up must submit their information by no later than February 20th. In order to sign up, please email your name, email address and/or phone number to Events@sincerelyabitch.com with the subject line “SAB Slam”.
All pieces must be no longer than 3 minutes. There will be a 30 second grace period allowed after which points will be deducted from your score.

The slam will be divided into two rounds:

Round 1
All confirmed participants will be allowed to perform a piece in this round. Extra points will be given in this round if your piece has something to do with your feelings about the word “bitch”. This can be negative, positive, indifferent, about someone you consider to be a bitch and why, about why you think someone is a down ass bitch…you see where we’re going with this. We’re flexible, but please make sure to stick to the overall theme. We’d like to have you focus on how you define the word or what it means to you. Be creative!

Round 2
The participants with the top five scores from the first round will be moving on to the second round. In this round, participants are free to perform whatever original piece they would like. Those with the top three scores will win prizes of $250, $150 and $100 respectively.

Scoring
Each judge will give each participant a score between 1 and 10. Decimal points are included only on the .5 scale. So it is possible to receive a score of 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, etc. All of the judges’ scores will be added to give each participant their overall score.

Tiebreakers
Ties will be handled differently in the respective rounds. In Round 1, in the event of a tie, all people with the lowest qualifying scores will continue on to Round 2 (for example, if two or even three people have the same score as the 5th highest, all three will continue on into the next round).

In the event of a tie in Round 2, the participants with the same score will be put to an audience vote and the crowd favorite will win the prize.
