Grammys 2012: Biggest Disappointments
So I don’t know about y’all, but all in all I felt like this year’s Grammys was an epic waste of my time. There were very few bright spots. I’ll start with my biggest disappointments:
Nicki Minaj: Girl…why? What is happening to you? So you show up in an oversized Red Riding Hood costume with a man dressed up like the Pope. Oh. I didn’t sweat it too much because I expect crazy red carpet shit from you. But then your performance came on…
WTF was that?! I know that you like to brandish your acting chops since you went to HS for drama and that little intro was kind of funny. But the actual performance…? I could maybe excuse it if the song was good, but that Roman’s Holiday was TRASH. Please get your life together. You are on a steady decline and I am in no way hyped for this album as things stand right now. Do better.
Chris Brown: I expected so much more from you. This was one of the performances I was most looking forward to. This was your first time back at the Grammy’s since the Rihanna incident —your big chance to fully redeem yourself. And you give me dancing on the Aggrocrag and lip synching? Don’t get me wrong, it was a good performance, but for what this symbolized it could have and should have been much better
Much of the rest of the Grammy’s was a big snooze fest so really most of it was disappointing, but these two were my biggest. I know all you Nicki and Breezy stans will probably hate this, but deep in your heart of hearts, you know I’m right. *shrug*
Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt: Yeah I said it. This performance wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t a fitting tribute to Etta in my opinion. It wasn’t memorable. It was just nice. It probably doesn’t help that Christina Aguilera slayed her Etta James tribute, which makes this pale even more in comparison.
Honorable mention goes to Taylor Swift. I didn’t expect much from her anyway because I don’t like or appreciate her music, but that was worse than usual. What kind of random white trash ode was she going for? And please drop the whole “I’m so shocked and humbled. Oh gee..” act. ENOUGH.
