Brit Awards Issue Apology to Adele I know that I haven’t been blogging for the last couple of days (see proceeding post) so I wasn’t able to express my undying love for British singer Adele. Yes, her voice is one of the greatest of our time, and yes, she’s setting unbelievable records for album sales (iTunes reported that 21 will reach 2 MILLION sales within the next few weeks), but who she is as a person is what makes her my fav.  I know I religiously say that I Stan for no one… But I will Stan for Adele. Hell has frozen over. You’re welcome. During the recent Brit Awards, Adele took home Album of the Year and her acceptance speech was cut off. In true Adele fashion she voiced her dismay with a smirk and a middle finger. I swear the look on her face says “I know this isn’t right but fuck it, I can’t get my time to shine? Kiss my ass Brit Awards producers.” I’d also love to think that in her head she was was saying “America loves me bitches and they treat me waaaay better!” The executives of the Brit Award show issued an apology today saying: We regret this happened and we send our deepest apologies to Adele that her big moment was cut short this evening due to the live show over-running. We don’t want this to undermine her incredible achievement in winning our night’s biggest award. It tops off what’s been an incredible year for her. So you cut off Adele? Sounds like bullshit to me because Blur could have shortened their set. We don’t know who the fuck they are over here. That was my first Stan moment and it felt good.

Adele took to her website today and assured music fans that she was merely joking when she said she’d be taking a five year hiatus from music.  I’ve a few days off now, and then it’s the Brit Awards here at home and then I’m straight into the studio. BOYYAHH! 5 years? More like 5 days! That’s a relief. There’s no way you can make an album like 21 and then just disappear… It would be like The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill all over again and I can’t take another disappointment like that. Side Note: Seriously though L-Boogie… Can we get a follow up? Shit…

After winning six Grammy’s at last night awards, Adele now covers the fashion bible Vogue. The uproar over the photoshopping of this spread will not be as big as it should be because she looks GORGEOUS. 

I really wish they had eased up though. We love Adele because she’s a REAL person and hasn’t yet to become a diva. 

Anyway… I love the spread.

Grammys 2012: Highlights

Like I said before, overall the Grammys were disappointing, but these highlights made it bearable. 

Adele: Adele swept the Grammys. She won all six of the awards that she was nominated for including Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year. She also performed “Rolling In The Deep” and sounded amazing, especially given that she recently recovered from throat surgery. 

Bruno Mars: Despite the fact that he jacked Frankie Lymon/James Brown’s swag, he put on a completely enjoyable and lively performance. And I LOL’ed when he said “Get your rich asses out of those seats!”

Jennifer Hudson: So although I’m disappointed that she didn’t even finish the song, I thought that she gave a solid performance. And I love that she had the Whitney hair while she did it. Nice touch. Still cannot believe that she’s gone btw—I’m still in a little bit of shock. 

Honorable mention goes to Rihanna because her performance of “We Found Love” was among her best live performances I’ve seen. She’s really tryna learn to sing and that effort is applauded. I’m mad she brought the Willy Bounce back, but she is clearly also trying to step her dance game up so kudos. However, singing that second song was a mistake. She clearly din’t have two songs in her to sing live. Baby steps Rih… baby steps.

Adele Shows She’s Still Got It on ‘60 Minutes’

Our favorite Brit Adele, sits down with Anderson Cooper and discusses her 2011 throat surgery. In this 60 Minutes Overtime clip, Adele sings Rolling in the Deep a cappella. Thanks GAWD her voice is okay… So effortless. I’m glad everything went well and hopefully we’ll have a new album from her soon.

60 Minutes airs Sunday, February 12 at 7PM EST on CBS, right before the Grammys at 8PM.

Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown To Perform At Grammy’s

 The Grammy’s are this coming Sunday and so we’re hearing about all the acts set to perform. We already told you about the Etta James tribute, Adele and Rihanna who will appear with Coldplay, but Nicki Minaj, who will be debuting the track “Roman’s Holiday”, and Chris Brown are also set to perform. Nicki is nominated for Best New Artist, Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance. Chris is nominated for Best Rap Song and/or Best Rap Performance (is that the same thing as Nicki?) and Best R&B Album. 

I always think it’s very risky to do new material in a high pressure situation like that, but then if you pull it off it’s 5x greater so I guess it evens out. I hope this single is better than “Roman In Moscow” cause that was not too promising. 

Chris Brown performing is a pretty big deal actually. This is the first time he’ll be attending the Grammy’s since his domestic abuse incident with Rihanna. Could it be that the industry has finally forgiven Chris? I’d say that this move points to a yes. And how fitting that this redemption would come at the Grammys—the very occasion surrounding the incident three years ago.

He better put on the performance of his life. I’m looking forward to seeing what he comes up with. I hope that they don’t try to be slick and show Rih’s face during the performance…we need to let those two live.

Ohh Uncle Karl… Karl Lagerfeld can be quite the outspoken at times and this time is no different. In a recent interview with Metro newspaper, Karl weighed in on some pressing subjects like Russian women, President Obama’s re-election, and Adele. On Russian Women: “If I was a woman in Russia I would be a lesbian, as the men are very ugly. There are a few handsome ones, like Naomi Campbell’s boyfriend, but there you see the most beautiful women and the most horrible men.” On President Obama Getting Re-Elected: “Yes he does, especially because of Mrs. Obama. I’m a big fan of Mrs. Obama – and her face, I think, is magical. He would not be there without her. Mrs. Obama is not a fashion statement, but she has other things to do. My favorite thing about Mrs Obama was when she was asked if her skirt was not too tight and she answered “Why you don’t like my big black ass?” I want [Barack] Obama to win because there is nothing better anyway, and especially because of her.” On Adele: The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice. Really though Uncle Karl? Really? lmao

Adele Will Perform At The Grammy’s!  Fret not all you Adele fans who have been going through withdrawal like us. It has been confirmed that the songstress will be performing at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards on February 12th! She said in a statement  “I’m immensely proud to have been asked to perform at this year’s Grammy Awards. It’s an absolute honor to be included in such a night and for it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-racking, but what a way to get back into it all.” What a way indeed. Hopefully she’s taken all precautions that this performance won’t hurt her voice at all. I couldn’t take yet another setback. We need more Adele!
